Would you like to spend a weekday morning hiking, viewing wildlife, wildflowers, and snow-capped mountains, while being part of a small team collecting bird species data?  Citizen Science Project are collaborations between scientists and volunteers that expand opportunities for scientific data collection and help answer real-world questions. Learn more about becoming a CDLT citizen scientist volunteer by contacting Conservation Fellow, Susan Ballinger asusan@cdlandtrust.org  or call 509-667-9708.

CDLT is recruiting volunteers to help with two once/month bird monitoring projects.

  1. Mountain Home Preserve eBird Monitoring Project, prior to the thinning project that will restore a pre-settlement open ponderosa-pine forest.  Meeting at 6am at the Safeway store in Leavenworth, or Susan will pick up carpoolers in Wenatchee at 5:30am at the Penny Road Park and Ride. We walk a 2.2-mile route, stopping at 5 points to conduct 10-minute counts. Upcoming Dates: June 26, July 18, Aug. 23, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9.
  2. Horse Lake Reserve eBird Monitoring Project:  Meeting at 6am at the end of the pavement on Horse Lake Rd. to carpool up the gravel road, we walk a 5-mile route, stopping at 7 points to conduct 10-minute counts. All data is entered into eBird.  Our goal is to learn about bird use within the variety of habitats that include areas burned in 2015 wildfire.  Upcoming Dates: June 29, July 20, Aug. 24, Sept. 15, Oct. 19, Nov. 16.
