SUMMARY:Hike Week for Grades 5-8!
DESCRIPTION:The Wenatchee YMCA presents-Hike Week for Grades 5-8 \nJuly 15-19\, 2019: Spend this week learning to hike on our Wenatchee Valley trails with Seth Wendzel and the Washington State University 4-H Challenge Programs. In addition to hiking\, this week will feature an introduction to climbing and ropes courses at the WSU Extension Challenge Ropes Course. \nEach morning\, we’ll learn from our team of avid  hikers and paddlers in our community. In the afternoons\, use your budget to choose the activities you want to do most! Do you want to go bowling? See a movie? Grab a milkshake? It’s up to you! Extreme Teens is led by our Y staff team with the help of each week’s volunteer instructors. All transportation to and from activities is included. Check in runs from 7:30–8:45am and pick up runs from 4:45-6:00pm at the Wenatchee Valley YMCA. \nMember $230 // Community Member $250 \nRegister online or at Member Services \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Bird Walks
DESCRIPTION:Outings will be on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and led by Wenatchee Naturalist\, Susan Ballinger.  She will record bird sightings and enter them into the community science eBird database.\nWe will meet at the north parking lot at Walla Walla Park\, next to the restrooms\, and spend about 30 minutes in the park\, and then walk the 2-mile round trip loop within Horan Natural Area.\nThe walks begin ‪at 7:30 ‬a.m.and end about ‪10:00‬.  It is possible for people to join in at the start and depart early if they need to be at work.\nThe Friends of Horan is dedicated to gathering and sharing information about the Horan area to increase public awareness about the area.\nThese bird walks will immerse you in the beauty of the Horan Natural Area and provide an opportunity to learn about the area’s history and the potential for future ecological improvements and use. \nParticipants are welcome to come for all or part of any walk.  No RSVP needed.  We will not cancel due to weather conditions. \nContact Susan to learn more (skylinebal@gmail.com). \nHosted by Friends of Horan Natural Area and North Central Washington Audubon Society.
