SUMMARY:Wenatchee Row & Paddle Club-Guano Rocks Regatta!
DESCRIPTION:The 28th annual Guano Rocks Regatta with Wenatchee Row & Paddle Club is coming up on Saturday\, September 28th at Lincoln Rock State Park. \nWhat is the Guano Rocks Regatta you ask? Well let us explain. WRPC’s regatta is a fun human powered boat race for all kinds of boats and skill levels. If you paddle a kayak\, or a surfski or a board or you row a shell\, or rowboat\, or even cycle a pedal boat there’s a category for you. Some experience is necessary\, but you don’t have to be an expert to participate. \nYou can opt for the 3.2-mile Little Turtle race. Or step up to the challenge of the 5.5-mile Guano Rocks race. Both races start and finish at the Lincoln Rock boat launch. The Little Turtle race goes around Turtle Rock island in a counter clockwise direction. In that race you are never far from shore. The Guano Rocks race also goes around island but continues a mile or so past the end of the island to a small pile of rock covered with\, you guessed it\, guano. Now you know how the race got its name. At that point you turn around and head for the finish. \nAfter the race there is a BBQ lunch. It’s free for racers and volunteers\, $12 for others. The award ceremony is held during the lunch. \nThe race is a Sound Rowers Open Water Rowing and Paddling Club sanctioned event. More information and a link to registration can be found on the Sound Rowers web site: http://soundrowers.org/wp/race-schedule/guano-rocks/ \nIt promises to be a lot of fun. In the past we have had good attendance from folks west of the mountains. This year we’re really hoping for a big WRPC turn-out. So get together with your friends and plan to participate. This is a family friendly event!
