DESCRIPTION:Lake Wenatchee Geology Tour \n\nOctober 5 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm \n$40 – $45 \n\n\n\nThis is geologic tour in the Leavenworth area\, up the Wenatchee River Valley to Lake Wenatchee. We’ll look at everything from Chumstick sandstone\, to the glacial features from both the Icicle Creek and Lake Wenatchee Glaciers. We’ll see the Leavenworth fault\, identify glacial moraines\, discuss how streams change with time\, and examine 90 million years old igneous rocks and even older metamorphic rocks! \nTour goers will meet at the Wenatchee Valley Museum to board a tour bus that will depart at 9 a.m. The first stop will be at Pinnacle State Park the tour will continue along Hwy 2\, Chumstick Hwy\, and Icicle Canyon with multiple viewing and discussion stops. The tour will stop at Lake Wenatchee State Park for lunch and return to Leavenworth via the Chumstick Hwy. \nFor more information click here.

SUMMARY:Leavenworth Oktoberfest Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Ted Driven. \nA stunningly beautiful course in the scenic town of Leavenworth. Marathoners will start near the renown Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. Runners will run a loop through the Icicle Canyon the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth through wooded riverfront trails. Mixed surface of asphalt and dirt trails. Surrounded by impressive mountains\, you’ll likely see salmon spawning in the Wenatchee River and Icicle Creek. The half marathon events welcomes both runners and walkers. The marathon is limited to runners who will complete the course within the six hour time limit\, due to course restrictions. The half marathon course is open for four hours. \nLeavenworth is Washington’s “Bavarian Village” located 2 hours east of the Puget Sound bordering the Wenatchee National Forest and Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. Oktoberfest is Leavenworth’s biggest festival of the year with 3 weeks of music\, parades\, food (and of course\, beverages) and activities for children and adults. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Leavenworth Mountain Association \nPicking up trash in Icicle and Tumwater Canyons to keep our climbing areas clean! Free camping is available for 35 vehicles and 85 individuals Friday and Saturday nights at the Eightmile Campground Group Site. From 8AM to 1PM we will pick up trash\, then there is some time to climb in the afternoon. We will provide beverages\, a bonfire\, a grill and good company at the Eightmile Group Campsite afterwards. Walk\, Bike\, Run\, Skate-it doesn’t matter just participate! Go one mile\, go 11 miles\, but help us represent our collective impact as far as you can!This joint event with CASA and the YMCA has a collective goal of impacting 5000 children by year end. Both CASA and the Y have incredible outreach and are dedicated to the success of our valley’s children. This family event will foster community support for our children while engaging our youth and family teams in walking\, running or biking at our gorgeous Walla Walla Point Park trails. \nOur event goal is to raise awareness for our outreach\, programs and services to children and families in our valley. All proceeds will be divided between CASA and the Y. Funds raised will support the YMCA’s youth and teen programs\, and scholarship funds. As well as enable CASA to continue to provide child advocates for abused and neglected children in our community.Prizes for Best All Around Family Costume/Theme\, Best Costume\, Best Dog Costume\, Best Kids Costume.Games and family fun!!
