DESCRIPTION:New for 2020\, Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is excited to host the Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day Virtual Challenge\, facilitated by our friends at Compass Outdoor Adventures. \nJoin in on the day’s all-ages festivities Saturday\, October 3rd from any trail\, anywhere. Online scavenger hunts\, creative challenges\, and fun ideas for getting out and riding will make for an inspiring day in a family-friendly and inclusive environment. \nThe event officially starts at 10am\, but pre-ride missions will be released at 6am for those who want a head start! Oh\, and did we mention it’s completely free? \nUsing the Goosechase app as a platform\, you and your family (or COVID pod) will be guided through a series of 50 mountain bike related challenges–  everything from riding your bike\, to drawing your favorite trail\, to answering quiz questions. For every challenge completed\, you’ll earn points in a friendly competition. Don’t feel like competing? No problem. Sit back and use the challenge prompts presented by live hosts at Compass to fuel your day’s mountain bike fun. \nLater in the day\, a prize package (worth over $1\,200!) will be awarded to one lucky team. \nComplete your first mission before we start by downloading and printing this cool coloring book page for your kids to color! Thank you. \nHosted by Ted Driven \nThis is a stunningly beautiful course in the scenic town of Leavenworth. Marathoners will start near the renown Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. Runners will run a loop through Icicle Canyon\, the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth and through wooded riverfront trails on mixed surfaces of asphalt and dirt trails. Surrounded by impressive mountains\, keep your eyes open for salmon spawning in the Wenatchee River and Icicle Creek. The half marathon event welcomes both runners and walkers. The marathon is limited to runners who will complete the course within the six-hour time limit. The half marathon course is open for four hours. Leavenworth is Washington’s “Bavarian Village” located 2 hours east of the Puget Sound bordering the Wenatchee National Forest and Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. Oktoberfest is Leavenworth’s biggest festival of the year with 3 weeks of music\, parades\, food (and of course\, beverages) and activities for children and adults. A great race will only be part of your unique experience on race weekend! \nWe are very proud of the partnerships we have forged with the United States Department of Fish and Wildlife\, United States Forest Service\, Washington State Department of Transportation\, Chelan County\, the City of Leavenworth\, and our friends and neighbors in Leavenworth\, without whom this event would not be possible. \nThe Leavenworth Marathon is operated by TedDriven\, an organization that supports cancer research and numerous local charities and organizations. Cancer research is a special interest of the directors. Everyone knows someone who has suffered through cancer\, and your race directors have all been directly impacted and are committed to doing their part to fight the disease. TedDriven donates proceeds from the Leavenworth Marathon to the cancer biology lab at the University of Pennsylvania. This lab is making amazing progress in fighting solid tumors genetically. It is a chance for our community to come together in unity and hope; social-distancing of course. Sign-up today! \nJoin us as we walk/bike our way through a treasure hunt on the Apple Capitol Loop Trail on September 12th\, 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Choose to bike or walk\, choose your time\, choose which family members join you and choose who will support you with pledges and donations. Meet us at Pybus Market to check-in\, then off you go at your own pace\, social-distancing at 6’ apart.
