SUMMARY:Thanksgiving Family Paint & Sip
DESCRIPTION:Thanksgiving Family Paint & Sip hosted by Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center \nJoin us this Thanksgiving for a virtual Family Paint & Sip. This painting is inspired by the book Tap the Magic Tree by Christie Matheson. We’ll be painting a Magic Tree on four 12 x 12 tiles; each tile depicts the tree in a different season and once complete the tiles fit together for one amazing 24 x 24 piece of custom art. You can gather three of your family members and each paint your favorite season\, or paint all four tiles yourself. Either way the goal is to be creative and have fun! \nThe cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members and includes all art supplies\, a recipe for Thanksgiving Punch to make and enjoy while you paint\, and a link to the step-by-step video instructions that allow you to follow along and paint at your own pace. You can stop\, rewind\, fast forward\, pause and take a break\, and watch as many times as you’d like. All proceeds support the Museum. \nMore information and registration at: https://www.wenatcheevalleymuseum.org/event/virtual-family-paint-and-sip/ \nDeadline to register is Monday\, November 23 at noon. Supply pick-up will be held on Tuesday\, November 24 at the Museum located at 127 S Mission Street in Wenatchee.

SUMMARY:Indigenous Language Class - nxaʔamxčín
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Wenatchee River Institute \nJoin Annette Timentwa\, Language Curriculum Coordinator for the Colville Confederated Tribes Language Department\, for this 5-week basic introductory class on the nxaʔamxčín language. The class will be covering Moses-Columbian language history\, phonetics/orthography\, vocabulary and grammar. Each class will cover 5-10 words or phrases\, along with some simple grammar concepts to try and make simple nxaʔamxčín sentences. Classes will cover family terms\, colors\, numbers\, and feelings because Annette feels that these are lessons that can be used at home and daily. Annette will be utilizing audio\, visual\, and video tools after the first class covers basic linguistic concepts and history. Participation is not mandatory\, but always encouraged- as I know Zoom can be a little intimidating at first. Using your free time to learn another language can be difficult\, but Annette commends anyone willing to try and get out of their comfort zone! \nlámlamt/ thank you. \nClass limited to 15 participants. Registration required. \nPhoto of Annette Timentwa (on left) and Pauline Stensgar\, the last fluent nxaʔamxčín speaking elder (on right) \n\n\n\n\n\nCONTACT INFO\n Rachel Bishop\n rbishop@wenatcheeriverinstitute.org\n 509-548-0181 ext 5\n\n\nRELATED LINKS\n\nColville Confederated Tribes Language Page
