SUMMARY:Biochar and Burn-Pile Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Registration link: https://lu.ma/vd62mfv3 \nJoin the Cascadia Prescribed Burn Association at the Wenatchee River Institute in Leavenworth to learn how to turn branches and wood from creating defensible space or pruning into a valuable soil amendment – while sequestering carbon and limiting smoke in the air – with a simple\, fire-pit sized kiln! We will also have a larger kiln (appropriate for larger properties outside the Leavenworth Urban Growth Area) available for viewing. \nPlease feel free to forward this event to local friends and neighbors so you all can benefit from better air quality\, reduced wildfire risk\, and improved soils. \nSchedule\nCheck-in & Kiln Loading: 9 am\nIgnition: 9:30 am\nConservation Burn-pile Building Session: 10:30 am\nKiln Quench: 11:30 am\nWrap up: Noon pm \nThere will be multiple biochar-related topics for us to cover in-between kiln loadings\, with plenty of time for Q&A along the way – bring your questions and your curiosity! \nDetails & Safety\nThe check-in area will be at the covered picnic benches south of the main parking lot. \nWe request all attendees to review and sign waivers to help ensure a safe environment for working with fire. Even if you’re only observing\, please wear a hat\, long sleeves & pants from natural materials like cotton. \nWhile the Cascadia Prescribed Burn Association will graciously be providing some light refreshments\, please plan on bringing plenty of water and a sack lunch. \nRestrooms are available on the property in the Red Barn\, a short walk from the demonstration site area. \n  \nFor more information Click Here
