SUMMARY:2025 Tour De Plain
DESCRIPTION:Click here for registration link \n  \n2025 Tour de Plain Event # 3 Course Description \n  \nThe event offers 3 race options:  There are two timed events with a short (5 KM) and long (18 KM) tour of the Beaver Creek Trail. You can opt for classic or freestyle technique. The 3rd option is untimed/noncompetitive with no time record for the short course.  The events begin and finish at the Osprey Lodge Trailhead in Thousand Trails. \n  \nFor the 5 km short course\, begin from the Osprey Lodge trailhead and scan the START QR code there.  Ski along the BCT up valley to the Clear Creek loop.  Scan the QR code at the checkpoint in the loop. Then ski the BCT past the start to the Chiwawa Loop Rd crossing and scan the QR code at this checkpoint before returning on the BCT to the Osprey Lodge.   Scan the FINISH QR code there to complete the event. There are 4 QR codes scanned on the short course – START\, Clear Creek Loop\, Chiwawa Rd turnaround and FINISH.  All QR codes for the short course are on red signs. \n  \nThe long course starts at the Osprey Lodge trailhead. Scan the long course START QR code to begin the event and proceed on the BCT to the Clear Creek Loop. Scan the QR code at this checkpoint in the loop. Then ski BCT down valley to Plain until you reach the Meadow loop parking lot.  Scan the QR code near this trailhead and then return on the BCT back to the Osprey Lodge trailhead.    Scan the long course FINISH QR code to complete the event.  There are 4 QR codes scanned on the long course – START\, Clear Creek Loop\, Meadow Loop trailhead and FINISH.  All QR codes for the long course are on blue signs.  Do not scan the QR code at the Chiwawa Road crossing which is for the short course only. \n  \nThe course will be open from Friday\, February 28\, 2025 starting at 8 AM through Monday\, March 3\, 2025 completing the race by dusk. \n  \nYou can ski the course as many times as you’d like. Your times will be recorded and your fastest time counts. Enjoy the skiing! \n  \nSelf-timing \nTiming will be managed by each racer’s smart phone using the Webscorer Race Timer app to scan QR codes. The QR codes are marked visibly and scanning can be done without internet connection. Timing instructions will be sent to each racer in their confirmation email. Your race registration fees support the youth ski education programs of the Plain Valley Nordic Team! \n

SUMMARY:CDLT White River Snowshoe Tour
DESCRIPTION:❄️Join Chelan-Douglas Land Trust for a Snowshoe tour of the White River led by Elisa Lopez and Ayla Medina Ulloa. The trip leader will discuss the importance of this special area to forests\, birds\, mammals\, salmon\, and water resources. Stops on the tour will highlight conifer diversity\, animal tracks\, conservation projects\, and the historical use of the land. We’ll have a chance to warm up at Tall Timber Ranch Lodge halfway through the day. \n⛄Snowshoers should be able to walk over difficult terrain on snowshoes for 3 hours in winter weather. Snowshoes will be provided\, although we encourage you to bring your own if you have some. Please specify when you register if you will need snowshoes. \nCarpooling will be available. DESCRIPTION:Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery Presents \nBegin the year with new discoveries! Starting from the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery\, join Wenatchee River Institute naturalist guides on a one-mile snowshoe trail along beautiful Icicle Creek. We will learn about native wildlife and ecology along the way. What signs do we see along the trail that tell us what animals were there? How do the plants and animals survive winter? Even if this is your first time on snowshoes\, come along and enjoy this fun outdoor winter program! Bring your enthusiasm for the wonders of winter and nature\, and make sure to dress in warm layers. \nMeeting location – Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery visitor center.\nDifficulty level – Beginner level\, all skill levels are welcome. Not ADA accessible due to non-plowed trails.\nProvided – Snowshoes\, gaiters\, and poles.\nLimit of 12 participants per group – Registration required for everyone in the party. \nFree for children 5 and under (only 2 spaces available per trail group): there are no snowshoes available at this size. \nCost – Pay What You Can: \nWe offer the Pay What You Can model in recognition that paying for education programs looks different for different people. \nThese price suggestions are based on the costs to WRI to put on this program. DESCRIPTION:Twilight Snowshoe Trek\n\nThis fun\, informative\, guided snowshoe trek leaves from the Mission Ridge Base Area and heads up to the Midway Lodge. Each trek’s pace fits the group’s interests and abilities. Great for first-time snowshoers and those looking for a unique\, non-skiing\, on-snow experience. Twilight Snowshoe Treks are approximately 1.5 miles long\, with an elevation gain of roughly 550 feet\, and take around 2 hrs. \nSuggested Gear: Boots that fit well and offer good ankle support\, goggles\, gloves\, a winter hat\, coat\, snow pants & headlamp. \nCreature Comforts if you have them: backpack\, gaiters\, and facemask. \nGroups will meet at 4:30 PM in front of the Hampton Lodge Rental/Retail Shop and departs promptly at 5:00 PM. \nTours are available by reservation every Friday and Saturday evening from December 27th to March 1st. \nPrice \n$10 to register\, $30 to rent snowshoes. \nRegister Here
