DESCRIPTION:Chelan Douglas Land Trust are excited to invite you to the September CDLT Lunch & Learn session with Exploration and Mine Geologist Diane Groody. Diane will present: “The History of the Cannon Mine.“\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presentation: Her talk will focus on the unique\, underground story of Wenatchee’s mining history and the mining that took place near Dry Gulch\, CDLT easement property. \nDate: Wednesday\, September 24\, 2025\, from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. \nLocation Options:\n• IN-PERSON NEW LOCATION: Jack & Edna Maguire Conference Center (Room 1103\, Mish ee twie Building). Wenatchee Valley College – 1300 Fifth Street\, Wenatchee\n• Via Zoom – https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82470007761?pwd=BtYEtENY0ShfEmAHffTAPSQbCOZ5bd.1 \nFood: Snacks provided\, or feel free to bring your own lunch! \nAbout Diane: Diane Groody graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango\, CO\, in 1979\, with a degree in Geology. She worked in exploration for precious metals in Colorado and Nevada before her employer\, Asamera Minerals\, sent her to Wenatchee to look for gold near the mouth of Dry Gulch in 1982. It was supposed to be a 6-month project but\, after the discovery of a major gold deposit there\, Diane stayed on as Asamera´s supervisory Mine Geologist until 1989. She then did mineral evaluations and mining claim inspections for the local Bureau of Land Management before entering grad school in 1997. Diane is retired and recently moved to Vancouver Island to kayak\, hike and enjoy the wildlife. \nThis is a members-only event.
