SUMMARY:Winter Track and Sign Evaluation with David Moskowitz
DESCRIPTION:Wenatchee River Institute Presents \nSpend two full days in the greater Leavenworth area\, with professional wildlife tracker\, naturalist\, educator and author\, David Moskowitz. This wildlife track and sign evaluation is offered through CyberTracker North America. David’s approach to this class is highly interactive\, engaging participants in identification and interpretation of tracks and signs. There is lots of time for questions and discussion is built in. The style of this class is an excellent way to learn about animal sign and investigate real life tracking scenarios. Participants have the chance to achieve a certificate are awarded on three levels. \nCyberTracker courses provide an opportunity for quality\, focused learning with some of the best trackers in the country. Courses are designed to further participant’s tracking knowledge\, as well as to rigorously test and document their current tracking skill set. Originally designed to help African Bushmen gain employment on game preserves\, these courses also provide an internationally recognized certification of tracking ability. Certifications are an important credential for wildlife researchers and environmental educators as well as for people who want to test and push their own ability. Evaluations are entirely field based\, striving to expose participants to the widest range of tracks and signs as possible. Discussions are encouraged\, giving participants a chance to air their thoughts and receive individualized instruction. \nCost: $425 non-members\, $375 members\nFood and lodging not included.\nLimit of 10 participants\nTrail difficulty\, some off-trail travel\, up and down ridgelines. \nTo make these programs more accessible\, TCNA has made funds available for individuals from historically marginalized communities. Find the link below for the Financial Aid Application. The deadline for the initial review has already passed but you can still apply for the December 15th review. \nIf cost is still a barrier\, please fill out our Financial Access Form below. \nEvent Link to Register

SUMMARY:Basics of a viable vegetable garden (Connie Mehmel)
DESCRIPTION:WENATCHEE — The WSU Chelan-Douglas Master Gardener Program will offer four gardening classes at Pybus Public Market in January and February. The winter classes series titled “Productive Winter: A Garden Planning Series” will take place in the market’s Board Room\, which has its own entrance on the southeast corner of the building. \nAll classes begin at 10 a.m.\, will last 45 minutes to 1 hour\, and are free to the public. Advance registration is not required but is appreciated to ensure enough printed materials are available. Web links to register for classe can be found below. \n“Winter offers a chance to figure out what worked in your garden this past year and what didn’t; that information will help you shape a plan for the next growing season\,” said WSU Chelan-Douglas Master Gardener Program Coordinator Marco Martinez. “The class series our program is offering will further inform your decisions and contribute to the best possible outcomes. The information covered in these classes will prove useful whether you’re a beginning gardener or an experienced gardener.” \n\nSaturday\, Feb. 8: Basics of a viable vegetable garden (Connie Mehmel)\nWhen it comes to planting vegetables\, timing is everything. All plants have a minimum and maximum soil temperature for seed germination\, as well as a minimum and maximum air temperature to grow. Whether you start your vegetables from seeds or purchase plants from a nursery\, learn how to keep them healthy and productive throughout the growing season. \nClick here for the web link to register for this class.
