DESCRIPTION:Wenatchee River Institute Presents Outdoor Photography Workshop: Lake Wenatchee\n\n\nSunday\, September 28\, 2025\n9:00 am-12:00 pm\n\nLake Wenatchee State Park\, 21588 Lake Wenatchee Hwy\, Leavenworth\, WA 98826.\nExact meeting location at the park TBD and will be emailed to participants.\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImprove your photography skills and see the world in a new way. \nStep outside and into the natural world—ready to see\, frame\, and capture! This outdoor photo field trip will train your eye and spark your creativity. Learn how to observe your environment like a photographer\, compose dynamic shots using natural light\, and create a mini nature photo story. You’ll walk\, explore\, shoot\, and reflect—all in one immersive outdoor experience. Join us at Lake Wenatchee on September 28th and/or Icicle Gorge on October 12. Participants can sign up for a single workshop or register for both for deeper growth. \nThese workshops are geared toward beginner / intermediate- level photographers\, but all are welcome to enroll. Any type of capture device may be used including cell phone\, point and shoot\, mirrorless and DSLR cameras. \nThe instructor for this course\, Linda Lyons\, is a passionate and dedicated educator\, artist and facilitator of community. She is a nature enthusiast\, avid trail runner\, novice climber and lost-dog magnet. Linda has extensive experience in darkroom\, antique processes and digital photographic practice and instruction. She has exhibited her art nationally and internationally and has been published in print and web-based periodicals. Linda is currently a photography instructor at Indiana University South Bend and Wenatchee Valley College. Linda is committed to creating welcoming\, inclusive learning spaces and is a LGBTQ+ advocate. She considers life an art adventure and enjoys supporting others’ creative endeavors. She encourages her students to consider themselves storytellers\, image-makers and artists. \nGroup size: 13 participants\nHiking: Expect between 2 and 4 miles of walking on trails at a photographer’s pace: slow and with extended breaks!\nAges: 15 and up. Participants under 18 must attend with a registered adult.\nTransportation: Optional transportation is available from Leavenworth to Lake Wenatchee in our van. Drive time will not include instruction.\nPermits: If driving yourself\, a WA State Discover Pass is required for each vehicle. Photos taken during this class may not be sold or used commercially as that requires an additional permit from WA State Parks. \nBring your own camera\, even if it’s “just” a cell phone! \nCost is Pay What You Can. We offer the Pay What You Can model in recognition that paying for education programs looks different for different people. The options here are provided as suggestions\, based on the costs to WRI to put on this program. If you want to attend this program\, we want you to be there. Use the options below as a guideline upon registration. Please choose an amount that fits within your budget to attend this event\, even if that is lower than the suggested amount. We want anyone who is interested to be able to attend! \n$65/person\nThis option may be for you if you are excited to attend this program and are able to pay a little extra so a neighbor can attend at a lower cost. \n$55/person\nThis option may be for you if you are excited to support WRI\, and attending this program doesn’t put a strain on your weekly budget. This workout will help you build strength\, endurance\, and mobility to make the most of your winter days on the slopes. \nAt Home Ski Prep class for Wenatchee Outdoors. For both backcountry and in-bounds downhill skiers. Learn how to prepare your body for a great winter season right in your own home. SUMMARY:WRI Astro Along the River
DESCRIPTION:About \nJoin WVAC members at Wenatchee Rover Institute near the Red Barn in Leavenworth. The WVAC team will talk about the different types of telescopes and how they work. We will have multiple telescopes out showing some of the seasons’ best and brightest celestial objects\, connecting you to your natural heritage\, the night sky. Bring your deepest cosmological questions! \nThis program is almost entirely telescope based. \nThis program may be held in the red barn if weather is inclement. Should this occur\, we will show off the different types of telescopes and how beginners can get started in astronomy.  \nProgram Rules \n \n\nDuring the program\, please avoid the use of white light\, red lensed lights are allowed.\nPlease dress appropriately for the weather and possible wind; insect repellant may be necessary.\n\nLocation \nWe will all meet at the covered picnic shelter at WRI where introductions and general outline of the program. From there we will walk down to near Barn Beach for the event. \nHow to Sign Up \nSpace is limited to 35 people\, so please register ahead of time to reserve your spot in the free program. Registration is required on the WRI website under events.  \nCost \nWhile the event is free\, donations are gladly accepted. All donations go towards WRI and help continued community-based programming.

DESCRIPTION:Wenatchee River Institute Presents Fall Fungi Field Trip with Puget Sound Mycological Society\n\n\nSaturday\, October 4\, 2025\n8:30 am-4:00 pm\n\n\n\nRed Barn @ Wenatchee River Institute\n347 Division St.\nLeavenworth\, WA 98826\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE \nTickets are non-refundable.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNOTE: Apologies for the date confusion from our newsletter\, the correct date is Saturday\, October 4th! \nJoin Wenatchee River Institute and Puget Sound Mycological Society for our Fall Fungi Field Trip! \nBy registering through WRI you will have a spot on a field trip with a PSMS guide.\n*If you are already a member of Puget Sound Mycological Society\, you do NOT need to register. \nThe day will begin at the Wenatchee River Institute with a meeting to set the scene and provide a safety briefing. PSMS guides will take groups of people out to different locations for fungi foraging and collection. There is no guarantee you’ll find good edible mushrooms\, but you will learn the basics of foraging and get an idea of habitats to explore in the future. The guided trips will be out foraging for about 3-4 hours. Groups will return to WRI to have their mushrooms identified. We’ll close the day out with a group potluck! \nNote that the forage may include walking on uneven ground.\nLimit: 30 WRI participants \nCost is Pay What You Can. Choose a price that is reasonable for you. WRI offers this in recognition that not everyone can afford to pay for classes.
