SUMMARY:Ancient Lakes Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:2025 Trail Race Event in Quincy\, Wa. \n\n\n\n\nRegister for this one early\, because it sells out! 50M / 50K / 25K / 10K are hosted on Saturday. Sunday is 50K / 25K / 10K (no 50M). The Saturday race sold out in February last year! We have strict permit limits at this event\, so if you want to run Saturday (especially with a group of friends) we strongly recommend you register before February. We do NOT do a waitlist for the event. You MUST register for the “Late Start” category using the registration button above. \nNew for 2025! We’ve added 100 spots for a “late” start 25k/10k that starts at 11:00AM. Sleep in\, or use the morning to drive in from the west side and hit the course later in the day. We’ve added this option to increase event capacity\, while managing trail congestion (most 10K/25K runners will be off the trails by this time). So if you like lazy mornings\, this option is for you! \nRace Day Registration\nIf there are spots available we will hold race day registration. If the event is sold out we will not. \nExperience the Magic of Ancient Lakes!\nCome experience the magic of the Ancient Lakes in the heart Washington Desert in this unique trail race! These trails are truly spectacular and will allow you to experience the best the desert has to offer\, taking you on a journey through canyon-like gorges\, along the shores of ancient desert lakes and to the base of cascading waterfalls. You will feel like you are in the desert southwest but with a Washington flare. With a distance for everyone\, and the same great support and swag you have come to expect from Run Super Series events\, this is an event you won’t want to miss at this exciting new venue! \nCourse Description\nWith a unique cloverleaf design\, our scenic course will allow you to experience the best of the Ancient Lakes area. The larger 25k loop features 3 smaller loops\, each beginning and ending at a common aid station. The 25k loop features about 2\,200’ of rolling up and down\, with no single climb or descent more than 400’. The trails are primarily single track. The first loop will take you to the a spectacular waterfall and then run along the shores of the Ancient Lakes. The green loop will run out to yet another lake and feature a return trip through some canyon like desert terrain. The blue loop will drop you down into the Columbia River Gorge\, and have you run along the river before climbing back out and rolling to the finish line. The 50k will run the 25k course twice and the 50M will run the 25k course three times. The 10k course will run on portions of the red and green loop and will have about 1\,000’ of elevation gain. Trails are primarily single track. \n25K will hit the aid station 2x at 4.7 and 10.1 miles. 50K will hit the aid station 5x at 4.7\, 10.1\, 16.2\, 20.9 and 26.3 miles. 50M will hit the aid station 8x at 4.7\, 10.1\, 16.2\, 20.9\, 26.3\, 32.4\, 37.1 and 42.5 miles. \n\nClick Here for more information or to sign up!

SUMMARY:Becoming A Better Photographer 4-Part Series
DESCRIPTION:This is a WenOut MEMBER ONLY 4-part Educational Series. Become a member now.\nLooking to level up your photography game?? We have an opportunity waiting for you to join a professional photographer and WenOut board member Thom Schroeder for a fun\, hands-on series all about capturing the beauty of the outdoors. \nLocation: Foothills Middle School \nDetails: Photography is a lifelong journey\, and the great news is that anyone can improve their craft. In this four-part series\, we’ll explore the development of three essential skills while incorporating assignments to help you apply them in your own work. This might seem daunting\, but it’s meant to be accessible. We’ll steer clear of overly technical discussions about cameras and software\, as there are plenty of resources available for that. All you need for this series is a camera (even your phone works) and a willingness to improve. While bringing a laptop to share your work would be beneficial\, it’s not a requirement. \nSession One: Tuesday March 25 6:30-8:00 \n\nObservation (90 minutes\, includes a take-home assignment) We’ll dive into the first skill of becoming a better photographer: the art of observation. This involves being aware of your surroundings and learning to anticipate light\, timing\, and movement to create captivating images.\n\nSession Two: Tuesday April 22 6:30-8:00 \n\nVisualization (90 minutes\, includes a take-home assignment) In this session\, we’ll focus on visualization—imagining your final photograph before capturing it. This includes aspects of composition and post-processing\, considering what to include or exclude from the frame\, and how to edit to achieve your envisioned result.\n\nSession Three: Tuesday May 20 6:30-8:00 \n\nManipulation (90 minutes\, includes a take-home assignment) Often referred to as post-processing\, this session will explore editing techniques while revisiting the first two skills to understand how they all integrate.\n\nSession Four: June 17 6:30-8:00 \n\nCritique (90 minutes) Feedback is invaluable in the learning process. In our final session\, we’ll review the photographs we’ve created and discuss ways to continue refining these three skills as we strive to become better photographers.\n\nAbout Thom Schroeder:\nThom is a professional photographer with experience shooting across the country and in our local area. He runs a media and creative agency\, Woolley Creative\, collaborating with clients both locally and nationally. Thom and his family relocated to Wenatchee in 2018. \nSpaces is limited\, please reserve your spots below. Come to as many as you would like\, you will select the ones you can attend when you register. If spots fill up\, we will have a waitlist. \nBecome a member\nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Red Barn Event- Exploring the Intricate Relationships of Plants and Pollinators
DESCRIPTION:Streaming link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxzU5Je-X3M&list=PLjATQxBXvvgXSiC_qr24e5jmPS-LyJ5T9&index=2 \nThis is a partnered event with the Wenatchee Valley chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society. \nDoors open at 6:30pm for a community social with beer and wine available for purchase. The presentation will start at 7:00pm. \nPollinator networks involve 88% of all flowering plants\, at least a million insect species\, about a thousand birds\, hundreds of lizards and more than a hundred mammals. There are many ways that plants have evolved to attract specific pollinators to collect and carry pollen to another flower from the same species. Pollinators benefit by finding nectar and pollen more easily and\, of all pollinators\, bees are the most efficient. Lisa’s discussion will mention a few of the more extreme examples of pollinator-plant interactions and focus on connections between our Eastern Washington plants and pollinators. \nAbout the Presenter: \nLisa Robinson is a Wenatchee Naturalist and native bee enthusiast. She began studying native bees with Dr. Don Rolfs then joined PNW groups such as Xerces’ Bumble Bee Atlas and the Oregon Bee Atlas. She is one of the founders and a board member of the Washington Native Bee Society and participates in the Washington Bee Atlas. \nClick here for more information \n\n\n\n\n\nCONTACT INFO \nJoshua Schaub\njschaub@wenatcheeriverinstitute.org\n509-548-0181\, ext. 5
