SUMMARY:Plant Foraging Series: Nettle
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, May 30\, 2024\n6:00 pm-7:30 pm\n\nWenatchee River Institute\, 347 Division St. Leavenworth\, WA\n\nJoin WRI for our Plant Foraging Series. We will be hosting plant foraging workshops to introduce people to the abundance of local plants and their edible\, medicinal\, and functional uses. Each workshop will feature a new plant at its unique harvest time. Participants will learn hands-on how to identify\, harvest\, propagate\, and make use of the plant. Our goal is to empower people to respectfully and reciprocally engage with the plants that live here.\n\n\n\nNettle is a highly nutritious plant with a history of uses for traditional medicine\, food\, tea\, and as a material for textiles. Known as “stinging” nettle it has small stinging hairs that inject a chemical which can lead to a rash or stinging burn if touched. These hairs can be neutralized when soaked or cooked allowing for the many uses of this plant. \nRegistration required.\nSpace is limited\, so sign up fast! Class size: 15\nCost is Pay What You Can. Choose a price that is reasonable for you. WRI offers this in recognition that not everyone can afford to pay for classes. We hope that people who can\, will pay to help those you cannot. \nFor more information click here. \n\n\n\n\n\nCONTACT INFO\nJoshua Schaub\n jschaub@wenatcheeriverinstitute.org\n 5095480181

SUMMARY:It All Begins in the Nest-Online
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the North Cascades Institute \nClass Tuition: $10 \nIn the fourth and final part of a four-part series of talks on bird biology\, naturalist David Lukas will introduce us to bird nests and eggs. This might be the most important time of the year for birds\, yet so much of this exuberant activity remains hidden from view. Consider this our peek into the tender moments and care that go into making carefully crafted nests and rearing eggs that turn into the hungry chicks and feisty nestlings you’ll be noticing all spring. \nTo really level up your understanding of bird biology\, sign up for David Lukas’ other classes in his new Institute online series: \n\nThe Wow of Bird Colors >  REGISTER\nUnderstanding Bird Songs >  REGISTER\nUnder the Surface with Bird Bones and Skeletons >  REGISTER\n\nIf you can’t make the specific date or time of a class you want to take\, you can still register and we will send you a link to view the program on your own time! All registrants will have access to the class recording for a limited time to re-watch too. \nFor more information or to register click here.
