SUMMARY:The FunDiS West Coast Rare Fungi Challenge
DESCRIPTION:1. Zoom presentation: The FunDiS West Coast Rare Fungi Challenge by Tiffany Theden January 17\, 2023 7:00PM \nhttps://www.wnps.org/wv-events/calendar/1785 \nLearn about the West Coast Rare Fungi Challenge created by the Fungal Diversity Survey (FunDiS) as presented by Tiffany Theden. The Challenge covers 20 rare\, under-documented or potentially threatened fungi species found from California to Alaska. These intriguing species are found in a variety of habitats\, from coastal areas\, to the desert\, to the subalpine. Eight of the species have been found in Washington\, with potentially 2 additional species hiding here as well. Scientists and conservationists need more data on these fungi in order to better understand and protect them\, so we\, as community scientists\, are the eyes and ears helping to achieve this goal. Tiffany will go over the identification characteristics of each species\, current known ranges\, seasonality\, and what you can do to help. Join us for year 3 of the Challenge!
