SUMMARY:Weed Warrior-Grass Assassins
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by the Chelan Douglas Land Trust\n\nDate\nThu\, 06/01/2023\n\n\nTime\n8:30 AM – 11:00 AM\n\n\nLocation\nHorse Lake Reserve Trailhead\n\n\n\n\nWant to improve the success of our native grass restoration? Want to fit in an upper body workout before your hike or bike ride? Become a Weed Warrior – Invasive Grass Assassin! We will meet on Wednesdays\, weekly\, until about mid-June. \nStop by for as long as you want to help CDLT staff hoe weeds in the restoration area near the concrete slab where the barn used to be at Horse Lake Reserve. \nWe will mainly be removing bulbous bluegrass (we need to get it before it spreads!)\, which is a shallow\, fibrous-rooted\, perennial weed that we were not able to control during the weed spray last fall. Our native basin wildrye\, Idaho fescue and bluebunch wheatgrass need your help to survive! Please join us\, even if it’s just for 15 min. We need all the help we can get. \nYou do not need to be able to recognize the different grass species – we will flag native plantings as we go and work in sections\, so you know what to hoe out and what to leave. We can also teach you some ID characteristics of each of the grasses growing in this area – both the natives and non-native. \nTo register for this event please email Tiffany Theden\, Stewardship Assistant: tiffany@cdlandtrust.org. 310-254-0067 \nThank you in advance for being as tenacious in your support of restoration as the weeds are in growing. \nHoes\, gloves\, and snacks will be provided. \n*All work parties are weather and conditions dependent. Canceled work parties will be rescheduled if possible.

SUMMARY:Echo Valley Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by Evergreen Trails \nTo register or for more information click here. \nWe had such a fun time last year that we are continuing the tradition of TWO DAYS of Echo Valley in 2023. There will be a 1-mile kid’s race\, 10K\, half-marathon\, and 50K. Echo Valley remains an excellent race choice for many. The 1-mile kid’s race\, camping\, and location make it ideal for families\, while the 50k is a great course for a first-time 50K runner or someone wanting to set a 50K PR time. \nBased in the pristine wine country of Lake Chelan\, Echo Valley offers stunning views\, runnable single tracks\, heaps of sunshine\, and a retreat from everyday life! \nTo top off this weekend away in the mountains\, you can camp pre- and post-race. Take this time to reboot\, decompress from technology and reflect on the amazing training you have done. Come and share an amazing weekend with us; we promise you will head back to work Monday full of heart and strength of mind! See below for details on accommodations. \nThis race is also sponsored by Vin du Lac of Chelan\, one of the top Wineries in the region\, named “Winery of the Year” in 2010.

SUMMARY:Sea levels from the Maximum of the Last Ice Age to the Present Day
DESCRIPTION:The Wenatchee Valley Erratics\, Ice Age Floods Institute’s next program will be on Tuesday\, June 13 at 7:00 PM at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center\, 127 South Mission St.\, Wenatchee. Erratics’ member Kirk Laird will talk about “Sea levels from the Maximum of the Last Ice Age to the Present Day.” His presentation will focus on information directly available from NOAA’s Tides and Currents Office\, and from NOAA’s Office of Satellite Altimetry. The 400 foot change in sea level over the last 22\,000 years is directly attributable to the melting of continental and montane glaciers. \nWith degrees in both Geology and in Oceanography\, Kirk has observed earth science issues his entire life. And for the last 25 years\, he has paid very close attention to the status of the oceans\, in particular.  \nThis is a hybrid meeting. You can attend in-person at the Museum. Or you can participate via a Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84520197937  Please sign in at 7:00 PM\, June 13!

SUMMARY:Weed Warrior-Grass Assassins
DESCRIPTION:Date\nWed\, 06/14/2023\n\n\nTime\n8:30 AM – 11:00 AM\n\n\nLocation\nHorse Lake Reserve Trailhead\n\n\nThis event is hosted by the Chelan Douglas Land Trust\nWant to improve the success of our native grass restoration?
