You will discover an amazing diversity of wildflowers and flowering shrubs\, with the possibility of a visit by a white-headed woodpecker. We will see camas\, lupines\, tiger lilies\, false Solomon’s seal\, Mariposa lilies\, and many others. If that is not enough\, you will learn how to tell the difference between arrowleaf balsamroot and mule’s ears. Handouts will be provided. SUMMARY:Spring Saunter
DESCRIPTION:Join the Wenatchee River Institute for a two-hour Spring Saunter with one of our knowledgeable naturalists. Walk with us through Waterfront Park as summer returns to the valley. You will learn about the natural and cultural history of Leavenworth with many scenic views along the way! What are plants and animals doing as everything wakes back up after winter? \nLimit: 14 participants – Registration required\nDifficulty: Beginner\, up to two miles roundtrip. One short decline\, then flat. Trails are packed dirt and gravel.\nAccessibility: Not fully ADA accessible due to gravel trails \nCost – Pay What You Can: \nWe offer the Pay What You Can model in recognition that paying for education programs looks different for different people. \nThese price suggestions are based on the costs to WRI to put on this program. DESCRIPTION:Meet at Walla Walla Point Park’s North parking lot (near the bathrooms) \nGo birding with staff from the Wenatchee River Institute by the Columbia River! All birding skill levels are welcome. Need binoculars? We have loaner binoculars that you can borrow. \nWe will enjoy birding this spring in Wenatchee on the second Thursday and in Leavenworth on the last Thursday of April\, May\, and June. \nTrail difficulty level: beginner. Walk will be on paved and grassy level pathways. DESCRIPTION:Go birding with knowledgeable WRI staff around Walla Walla Point Park and the Horan Natural Area in Wenatchee! All birding skill levels are welcome. Need binoculars? We have loaner binoculars that you can borrow. \n\n\n\nThis is a great opportunity to learn about eBird\, the largest biodiversity-related community science project in the world\, and utilize it to record our observations of local wild birds. \n\n\n\nTotal walking distance is approximately 2 miles\, over a mostly flat and gravel path with some slight hills. Come prepared for the weather. This event will happen rain or shine! \n\n\n\nTrail difficulty level: beginnerTrail is wide enough for ADA access\, but trails are mostly gravel and compact earth.Bathrooms available near the parking lot at the start and end of the walk. \n\n\n\nMeet in the north parking lot of Walla Walla Point Park\, near the restrooms and playground at 7:30am.
