DESCRIPTION:Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute will meet at 7:00 P.M.\, Tuesday\, October 10 at the Wenatchee Valley Museum\, 127 South Mission\, Wenatchee. \nBig\, bigger\, biggest: Catastrophic flooding on Earth and Mars \nThe Wenatchee Valley Erratics go to Mars\, two meetings in a row! Dr. John Buchanan\, EWU professor of geology\, will talk about catastrophic outburst flooding by various mechanisms that have been occurring on Earth and Mars through geologic time. Cook journeys up and down salmon country\, from the glacial rivers of Alaska to the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest to California’s drought-stricken Central Valley and a wealth of places in between. Reporting from remote coastlines and busy city streets\, he follows today’s commercial pipeline from fisherman’s net to corporate seafood vendor to boutique marketplace. At stake is nothing less than an ancient livelihood.

SUMMARY:Out of Bounds Program
DESCRIPTION:The YMCA presents-October 13th\, 2017 is the first day for our Out of Bounds program. During that day we will be at Enchantment Park and the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. The fees are $29 for members and $39 for community members. The fees increase by $10 the Friday before. Program check in begins at 7:30am and we will arrive back to the YMCA by 4:00pm. \nAt Enchantment Park\, we will be playing on the playground\, playing parachute games\, and eating lunch. At Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery we will be touring the fish hatchery\, playing educational games about salmon\, and walking on their nature trails. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 14: 9:00am to 5:00pm \nThe Wenatchee Valley Museum Presents- \nTour shows you the site of the largest landslide to have occurred in the country. You will learn to read and thereby understand the features of the basalt cliffs. Once upon the Waterville Plateau\, you will see evidence of the continental ice sheet that once covered this area: Withrow Terminal Moraine\, Kames\, Eskars\, Drumlins an Kettles. See the Grand Terrace At Brewster and the source of the Glacial Erratics that cover so much of the Waterville Plateau. Finally\, we will see the volcanic feeder dikes at pine canyon.  Grab some tickets now!
