DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday\, December 15 2018 – Sunday\, December 16 2018 \nA CO-ED intro to Avalanche Safety and FUNdraiser Day with classroom and on-snow training\, morning yoga\, delicious and healthy lunch\, and apres party and raffle. \nAnyone\, ages 14 and older who are interested in snow and avalanche safety in and out of bounds and who enjoy a good time for a good cause. Participants are asked to provide their own avalanche beacon\, shovel\, probe\, and backpack. Maximum of 36 participants. \nCOST $140 (Includes yoga\, classroom and small group on-snow instruction and skiing /snowboarding\, tickets for those that do not have a resort pass plus lunch.) \n$110 for students that can provide a current transcript or student ID. DESCRIPTION:The Wenatchee River Institute Presents-A Virtual Trip to the Galapagos and Ecuador in the Red Barn\, Dec. 19th \nAward-winning wildlife and landscape photographer John Winnie will be in Wenatchee River Institute’s Red Barn on Weds.\, Dec. 19th. Doors open at 6:30pm\, presentation begins at 7pm. Through spoken word and imagery\, Winnie will offer A Galapagos and Ecuador Natural History Travelogue. \nEscape thoughts of winter for an hour of exotic birds\, wildlife and wild places during a virtual natural history tour of the Galapagos National Park (above and below water!)\, and into Ecuador’s Andean Highlands –a region known worldwide for its incredible birding and wildlife photography opportunities. \nWinnie’s work has been widely published in books\, calendars\, posters\, and in magazines such as Smithsonian\, Canadian Geographic\, National Wildlife\, Discover\, Montana Outdoors\, Wildlife Conservation\, and American Birds. He authored and provided photos for the book\, High Life\, Animals of the Alpine World\, and was co-photographer for the book\, The Rockies: Canada’s Magnificent Wilderness. \nA conservation ecologist and Associate Teaching Professor in Montana State University in Bozeman\, Winnie teaches a wide variety of subjects ranging from introductory biology\, to graduate ecology and intensive field biology. His conservation work and research have taken him from the remote Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan to Tajikistan\, and into the wilds of the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem.
