SUMMARY:An Introduction to Lichens
DESCRIPTION:An Introduction to Lichens \nHosted by the Wenatchee River Institute \nIn this hands-on workshop\, you will create your own lichen ID chart using local specimens. You will discover that there are lichens all around you. Winter is a great time to see them too\, as wind and snow knock them out of trees and there are fewer leaves to hide them in trees and shrubs. You may even find that a single branch has five or more species. With your chart you will get better acquainted with them and you will learn what to look for when using lichen identification guides. \nMore information and registration: https://wenatcheeriverinstitute.org/education-programs/community-programs/workshops.html

SUMMARY:Science Saturdays: Owl Pellet Dissection
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center \nJoin us in the MakerSpace during the month of April for Science on Saturdays. Saturday\, April 9 is Owl Pellet Dissection. Owls swallow their prey whole\, but cannot fully digest some items such as bones and teeth. These indigestible items are then compacted into a pellet that the owl spits out. We can learn a lot about owls and their diets by dissecting these pellets. In this Science on Saturday program\, you’ll be able to dissect an owl pellet and investigate for yourself what they ate. You’ll begin to identify the indigestible pieces left behind in the pellet and learn to categorize them. These pellets have been sterilized so that we can have safe fun learning the science behind owl pellets.  \nThis class is recommended for kids 10 and up. Each child needs to have an adult present. Preregistration is not required\, but encouraged as there are a limited number of spots which will be filled first-come\, first-served while supplies last.   \nCost is $5 for members and $8 for nonmembers \nThis class will be offered at 10:30 AM\, 11:30 AM and 2 PM.
