SUMMARY:Recovery Update for 3 Federally-Listed Plants in Central WA
DESCRIPTION:Zoom presentation: Recovery Update for 3 Federally-Listed Plants in Central WA by Tara Calloway November 22\, 2022 7:00PM \nhttps://www.wnps.org/wv-events/calendar/1730 \nHosted by the Washington Native Plant Society \nIf you’ve ever been to Central Washington\, you know that it’s a special place. You probably noticed that there are tons of mountains to climb\, rivers that flow generously\, sagebrush as far as the eye can see\, and plentiful wildlife. What you may have not noticed while traveling here are three federally-listed plants (Eriogonum codium\, Sidalcea oregana var. calva\, and Hackelia venusta) under the Endangered Species Act. This is understandable because these endemic plants occur only in Central Washington and some occupy less than a couple hundred acres. Tara Callaway\, the Shrub Steppe Zone Supervisor for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service)\, will present on the status of those species. Her talk will explore some of the threats facing each species and how the Service and partners have begun to address them. She will also cover some new and exciting research that may help guide future recovery actions and activities.
