SUMMARY:Fuzzy-Tongue Penstemon Walk
DESCRIPTION:Location: Lower Castle Rock \nEven land that’s been severely disturbed can provide a home for rare wildflowers if we give it enough care and attention. On this outing\, join CDLT Conservation Fellow\, Susan Ballinger and Elisa Lopez to view the Fuzzy-tongue Penstemon in the wild in early May. We will learn a little bit about the process of caring for a highly disturbed area\, and how the pandemic led to the local discovery of this rare plant. After the guided hike\, participants are welcome to extend their walk and explore the trails on their own. \nRegistration required. This <1-mile round trip walk will last about 1 hour and participants can join us at either 4:30 or 5:30 PM. All spots for 4:30pm have filled. Limited to 10 participants per time slot. On this outing\, join CDLT’s NEW Community Inclusion Coordinator\, Elisa Lopez\, to view the wildflowers that grace our open hillsides in the lower Foothills. \nJoin us for a spring hike along the first 2 miles of Cashmere Canyons Preserve. On this wildflower walk\, we hope to see lupine\, balsamroot\, barestem biscuitroot\, larkspur\, serviceberry\, blue-eyed Mary\, and more. The hike is on a narrow dirt trail with 1100 feet of elevation gain for the first two miles. All ages are welcome. \nRegistration required. Please register below.
