DESCRIPTION:Go birding with knowledgeable WRI staff around the WRI campus! All birding skill levels are welcome. Need binoculars? We have loaner binoculars that you can borrow. \n\n\n\nThis is a great opportunity to learn about eBird\, the largest biodiversity-related community science project in the world\, and utilize it to record our observations of local wild birds. Total walking distance is ½ mile\, over a gravel path with two moderate hills. Come prepared for the weather. These walks will happen on the second Wednesday of each month for the whole year. Join us for as many as you can! \n\n\n\nTrail difficulty level: beginnerTrail is wide enough for ADA access\, but trails are gravelBathrooms available at the start and end of the walk \n\n\n\nMeet outside the River Haus at 8am and plan to be finished by 9:30am. This is a FREE event and no registration is needed.

DESCRIPTION:The 2024-25 Film and Speaker Series presents: The West is Burning  \nThe Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is partnering alongside the U.S. Forest Service to host a screening of The West is Burning on Thursday\, Sep. 12\, 7-9 PM.  \nThe West is Burning raises awareness about the conditions of forests in the western U.S. Told through a full-feature documentary\, we examine the history of forest management and litigation that led to the current conditions causing catastrophic fires year-round.  \nFunds from this event support the Museum’s mission-serving programs\, including featured exhibits\, MakerSpace\, robotics clubs\, field trips\, student scholarships\, community cultural events\, film and speaker series\, and collection restorations.  \nWatch the full trailer for this film here.  \nAdmission is free for members and $5 for non-members. SUMMARY:CDLT Member Event: Salmon Viewing Driving Tour
DESCRIPTION:Location: Wenatchee River Watershed \nSalmon return to the place they were born\, to mate and spawn before they die. On this driving tour hosted by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust you’ll visit three locations to observe and learn about the stages of a salmon’s life and how you’ve helped protect their home. The first location will be the Swiftwater Picnic Area near Leavenworth. We’ll then drive to the Napeequa Crossing Campground along the White River. For our final destination\, we’ll head to Nason Creek near Lake Wenatchee. \nEducation for this event will be bilingual in English and Spanish. Cascade Fisheries’\, Jen Herdmann\, will join us and share about the amazing world of salmon and how they need our help. DESCRIPTION:Location: Cashmere Canyon Preserve \nConnecting with nature aids our physical\, mental\, and emotional health. Join CDLT and CVCH on a Hike for your Health\, on Saturday\, September 14th. This 8-month series of Saturday morning outings will take you to different areas in North Central Washington where you can connect to nature for FREE. A guided walk is offered for every event in the series. Arrive anytime between 7 am-9 am to walk the trails and receive a raffle ticket entry to win amazing health focused prizes. The guided walk for this date will begin at 7:15 am and end at 9:00 am. During the guided walk you will learn about the area’s plants\, wildlife\, and history. The event is open to all ages and will be led in English and Spanish. You do not have to participate in the guided walk to receive a raffle ticket entry.  \nSeptember will take you up the Wenatchee River Valley to Cashmere Canyons Preserve in Cashmere\, WA. This walk will be 3 miles and 762 feet of elevation gain on a wide dirt trail. Registration is not necessary to participate\, but it is appreciated.
