The Eightmile Lake Trail is near the more popular Colchuck Lake trail, reached via the Icicle Road in Leavenworth. We will go midweek to avoid the crowds. There is good plant diversity due to moist and dry areas, serpentine soils, and of course, the lake itself. We will gain 1,400 feet of elevation in 3.3 miles on a good trail. Highlights include Shasta fern, black twinberry, scarlet paintbrush, and tiger lilies. A plant list is available at List (wnps.org).
