The VID Expedition-Attempting the World Record for Longest Distance Traveled by Hand Cycle
There’s a great opportunity coming up on Tuesday, September 20, to hear about the VID Expedition. This expedition was started by Michiel Desmet who is from Belgium and has been living with a spinal cord injury for the past 10 years. He is currently attempting to break the world record for the longest distance traveled by hand cycle. His route is more than 4000 miles long (6500 km; 6500 is VID in Roman numerals). He started in Anchorage, AK in June and plans to finish in Los Angeles, CA by the end of November.
He is currently passing through NCW and will be giving a presentation about his journey at The Mercantile on Tuesday, September 20, at 6:30 PM. The Mercantile is located at 14 N Wenatchee Ave. Michiel definitely has an interesting story to tell and unique logistics to manage as he makes this record-breaking attempt.
This will be a very informal event and there will likely be time to ask Michiel questions that you have about his experiences, both on and off the bike. This presentation is free and open to the public.
