Plain Valley Ski Trails is excited to host the Washington Nordic Cup, a cross-country ski race series designed to bring youth together for fun, affordable, and low-stress ski racing opportunities. Open to skiers ages 6 to 19, the Nordic Cup emphasizes inclusivity and celebrates the joy of skiing in local communities. A Lollipop Race to follow is open to all ages.
The next event will be held on January 26th from 11 AM to 2 PM at Plain Valley Ski Trails, and it promises something for everyone, from beginners to seasoned racers.
Race Options Include:
- 1k, 2k, and 5k races for youth participants
- A Lollipop Race for all ages (0-99), welcoming the entire family
The Nordic Cup aims to inspire young skiers while fostering a vibrant and supportive ski community.
“All skill levels are welcome,” says Christie Wilder, Executive Director of Plain Valley Ski Trails, “whether it’s your first time racing or you’ve discovered a love for racing. The focus of this race series is introducing racing in a welcoming, fun environment and connecting with ski communities across the state.”
“The venue in Plain is very special because spectators can watch the skiers race the entire distance thanks to the valley’s beautiful wide open terrain.” says Jeff Layton, Head Devo Coach of Plain Valley Nordic Team. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for kids to try nordic ski racing in a supportive setting.”
There is no cost to enter the Washington Nordic Cup following the mission of Plain Valley Ski Trails’ to continue to remove barriers for children being able to participate in cross country skiing!
All proceed for Plain Valley Ski Trails’ education programs and the Plain Valley Nordic Team, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, are raised through PVST Trail Passes, clinics and fundraising efforts.
