Distance: About 16 miles round trip to Purple Pass

Access: This trail on Lake Chelan is not accessible by road. Hikers must travel about 36 miles up lake by boat. Passage on the Lady of the Lake can be booked from Field’s Point Landing, and hikers can also catch the boat in Stehekin for the return trip. For more information, contact the Lake Chelan Boat Company (509-682-4585 or www.ladyofthelake.com). You’ll find the trailhead at Stehekin Landing, just past the Golden West Lodge.

Trip Instructions: Good views of the surrounding area start after about 3 miles. Purple Pass is 8 miles from the trailhead. If you have extra energy, continue another 0.5 mile to Boulder Butte, where a former lookout site offers excellent views.
