The Wenatchee business community, as reported by such articles in the Wenatchee World, have supported the Mission Ridge Proposed Expansion and the economic opportunity that is hoped to spin off of ski-area development. In early March, El Sendero Ski and Snowshoe Club held a community forum at the Wenatchee Valley Museum attended by about 60 snowshoers, backcountry skiers, and other backcountry enthusiasts. This article from El Sendero discusses how the attendees of that meeting thought the development would negatively impact the public lands around the ski resort and the larger community itself.
Whether you’re enthused about the expansion or worried about the development, March is an import month to voice your opinion-the Forest Service and Chelan County both have comment periods ending March 27 (Forest Service) or March 30 (Chelan County). Please educate yourself and weigh-in so that the decisions made reflect the vision of our community.
