Wanted-Community Outreach Coordinator for Wenatchee Outdoors!

WenOut is seeking an outgoing, motivated person who believes in our mission to inspire, guide, and connect our outdoor community. This person will help to define this new role and handle a variety of tasks to support WenOut’s daily operations and organizational growth. This person will manage the events calendar and new Outings Program and generally be a strong advocate for the organization and will include communicating with various North Central Washington communities through email, social media, and in-person. This role will report to the Executive Director (ED) as an independent contractor.

2024 Responsibilities

  • General Communications
    • Schedule Facebook Posts (five days a week).
    • Post instagram Images (one per week roughly).
    • Create and send E-Newsletters monthly.
    • Promote WenOut Membership every month in various channels.
  • Volunteer Recruitment & Community Outreach
    • Recruit volunteers to help with events and website article creation.
    • Promote WenOut at local events by operating a WenOut “booth”.
  • Events & Outings Program
    • Add Events to the Events Calendar.
    • Review/moderate all Outings posted by members.
    • Promote every posted Outing on social media and other channels.
    • Plan, promote, and host partner events each quarter.
    • Establish WenOut Wednesdays where the community can count on something happening each Wednesday on the calendar.
    • Collect feedback and continue to improve Outings Program.
    • Re-home four recurring, event series that are already happening in the community to the Outings Platform (i.e. weekly rides or paddles where we know the organizer).
    • Put on three events that either help clean-up/maintain the Lower Stemilt Basin area or expose people to its recreational opportunities.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Language proficiency in both English and Spanish is strongly desired, but not required.
  • Highly motivated, flexible, and self-directed.
  • Experience creating traditional and digital (email) marketing campaigns.
  • Experience organizing and participating in community outreach events.
  • Project management skills to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Experience using social media platforms to promote and develop a brand.
  • Experience with editing and managing WordPress website content.

Day-to-Day Expectations

This is a fully remote position with in-person meetings one to two times a month with the E.D. and/or team. Daily active communication via email and online tools with the E.D. (Mon-Fri) is important but time of day is flexible. Except for specific event requirements which may require time on evenings or weekends, work hours are flexible, as long as the work is being done well and on-time.


$25-30/hour depending upon experience, 15-20 hours a week. Flexible schedule, outside of events.
