Exciting Improvements Coming to the Apple Capital Loop Trail
We’re sharing an important update on behalf of the City of Wenatchee regarding an upcoming project designed to enhance pedestrian and bicycle access to the Apple Capital Loop Trail.
The project will extend the Clark Pipeline Bridge, creating a vital connection from Hale Park in Wenatchee, over the railroad tracks, and onto Bridge Street. In addition, a new ADA-compliant bridge will be built to provide improved access into Hale Park. On the east side of the river, a second bridge will span over Sunset Highway (SR 28) at 9th Street, allowing Loop Trail users to safely and directly access Downtown East Wenatchee.
Construction Timeline and Trail Closures
Work is scheduled to begin in April, with initial excavation on the east side of the project to prepare for the new piers that will support the bridge and ramp structures over SR 28.
Please note: beginning June 4, 2025, the Loop Trail will be closed at both the east and west access points, including the Clark Pipeline Bridge, for approximately 17 months. The trail is expected to reopen in November 2026.
During the closure, a detour will be in place. Pedestrians and cyclists will be routed over the George Sellar Bridge to reconnect with the Loop Trail.
Loop Trail-Construction Detours Flyer includes more details and a visual of the detour route. We encourage you to share this information to help spread the word.
These improvements are a major step forward in making our trail system safer and more accessible for everyone. Thank you for your patience and support during construction!
