ATTRACTIONS: The ride is close to town, has little traffic, is enjoyably scenic, and is sure to jumpstart your pulse. It’s a good before- or after-work training ride.
CONS: It’s a grunt. And often steep enough that the only way to get up the hill is to stand up in the pegs and grind.
SKILL. 2 (intermediate). FITNESS. 2+ (strong intermediate)
DISTANCE: 9-mile roundtrip from where Western Avenue bends and starts heading up past the racquet club into Number Two Canyon.
ELEVATION: 1,600 foot gain
ACCESS. Ride from your home or from work if you’re a local. Non locals can park at the Wenatchee Racquet and Athletic Club (WRAC) off Skyline Drive in the northern slots of their main parking lot (i.e., the slots that are farthest away from the building used by club members).
TRIP INSTRUCTIONS:
–Take Skyline Drive back to Number 2 Canyon Rd
–Turn left and go uphill (mainly west)up Number 2 Canyon Rd.
–Grunt. The road climbs (sometimes very steeply) for over 4 miles.
–When you reach the end of the pavement, turn around and fly downhill. It’s a ride where you go slow, then very very fast.

LEAVE IT BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT. This should be every user’s goal. Pick up trash left by others, pull noxious weeds along your route, disperse old fire rings, throw branches over unwanted spur trails…
