Thirsty for a cold drink after riding or hiking some sweet trails? Need a local spot to hangout when the crowds downtown are too much to handle? Looking for a place to escape the heat with views that are off the charts?
The remodeled Leavenworth Ski Hill Lodge is now open seven days a week (Sunday 1-6pm, Monday thru Thursday 1-8pm and Friday/Saturday 1-10pm). They currently serve a handful of beers on tap, soft drinks and wine as well as a selection of food ranging from french fries, poutine, chicken strips, hamburgers and pizza slices to hummus plates, candy, granola bars and more.
The outdoor patio has been redone and is a great spot to sit amongst the trees and watch the world go by as your replenish both your body and soul. We recently took the extended family there and some did laps on the For the Boys trail while others stayed at the lodge, playing foosball, kicking pinecones and relaxing in the sun.
What I appreciated most was having a destination that is literally seconds off the trail where we could park our bikes, hang out, use the bathroom, fill up water bottles and catch a quick snack. Or call it a day and settle in out on the patio to trade trail stories over a frosty brew and a basket of french fries.
Although they do not yet have a formal kitchen and the food you’re getting is precooked and heated up, the prices are very reasonable for food and about normal for beer and wine. But you’re not there for fantastic cuisine. You’re there because you desire to support our local community, you’re hungry and/or thirsty and the ambiance far outweighs the hustle and bustle of downtown Leavenworth.
