As outdoors people, the mantra of ‘plan ahead and prepare’ has been ingrained into our minds (and if not, it should be). Before a backcountry ski tour, we check avalanche conditions. Before a mountain bike ride, we read up on the latest trail conditions. So preparing to kayak, SUP, or swim shouldn’t be any different – and that’s exactly why Chelan PUD created the Current app.
Current delivers real-time water conditions for the Columbia River, Lake Chelan, and other local waterways right to your phone, so that you know exactly what to expect when you hit the water. It’s free and easy to use.
Downloading the app will help you prepare your next human-powered adventure on the water. Rafting down the Wenatchee River? The river flows feature, provides hourly cubic feet per second (cfs) levels. Similar information is also available for the Entiat River.
Planning a point-to-point SUP along the Columbia? The PUD river elevations map will help you chart your day and the elevation change along the way.
Fishing? You can use the boat launch feature to plan your put-in and take-out, as well as the fish count feature to get a sense of the activity on the water.
The app even has a feature that will aid the local polar bear club, the app has water temperatures.
As a steward of our local waterways, the PUD is committed to promoting safe, enjoyable experiences on Lake Chelan and the Columbia. Chelan County is incredibly fortunate to have so many world-class recreational opportunities close by – and the PUD is excited to offer the Current app to help the outdoor community plan, pivot and simply enjoy their next outing.
