A New Way to Bicycle through Downtown Wenatchee

A new bike-friendly route is now open for cyclists traveling north or south through downtown Wenatchee. Riders heading south on the Loop Trail from Walla Walla Park can exit at Fifth Street, can use the bike lane under the BN railroad tracks, and turn onto the newly constructed Electric Avenue. This new road runs through the former PUD campus and connects to Columbia Street via a city parking lot east of the Coast Hotel. From Columbia Street, cyclists can continue south or ride west to reach various downtown destinations, without needing to use the often-congested Loop Trail segment between Fifth Street and Pybus Market. While Electric Avenue may not yet appear on digital maps, it provides a smoother, safer alternative for accessing downtown. Some construction, including the new YMCA, is still ongoing, so minor detours may be necessary. Click the link below for the full article.
