Attractions: “Mt. Berge is a huge mountain of granite surrounded by chossy, loose peaks. That’s why its east ridge is such a pleasant surprise. The rock is solid and for the most part, clean. On the summit of Berge, one looks out over the High Pass region, south to the Napeequa Valley and the Clark Mtn. Range, West to Glacier Peak and Buck Creek Pass, and East to the sheer north face of Buck Mountain, Mt. Maud and company.”

“More people should climb this mountain. The E. Ridge is very long: We underestimated its length and bivied on the summit. The Ridge goes at 5.8, but a quick party could simul-climb much of the route safely. Follow loose, broken ramps on the West side of the summit to reach pumice slopes on the Southwest side of Berge. The traverse off the summit was very loose and very exposed.”
